Myth #9: Whole Grains Are Bad For You
Some grains contains proteins which some people react with, such as gluten. The majority of grains contain no harmful proteins (called lectins) but are a great source of soluble fiber, insoluble fiber, and slow-digesting, low-glycemic complex carbohydrates which promote health.
If you act on this and cut this source of fiber out of your diet, paleo is bad for you!
According to the US National Institute For Health: “Existing evidence indicates that whole grains have a beneficial health effect; much of the evidence comes from observational studies that have demonstrated an association between whole grain intake and disease risk reduction. Soon, only the ill-informed will avoid whole grains foods.”
