Moving along, crunches are also another exercise that should be cut. I know you want to get flat abs, but consider the fact that flat abs are all about burning up body fat. If you have too much body fat covering your abs, you’ll never see the definition you’re going for.

And, when it comes to calorie burn, ab crunches are virtually the worst thing you could do. The more muscle fibers you work and the more intensity an exercise requires, the more fat you will burn doing it.

Trade those crunches and compare to a lunge or a deadlift.

Clearly you can see which is the more intense exercise – and which will burn fat faster. While they may not work the abs directly, they will get you far faster results.
