Tips for Single Parents
- Do your best to get along with your ex when it comes to making decisions regarding your children teen. Do everything you can to make important decisions together and be on the same page.
- If this is not possible for whatever reason, then make sure you are being clear and consistent in your own home. Don’t let your kids play you against your ex. Calmly explain that you cannot control what goes on in your child’s other home, but your rules and expectations are what must be obeyed in your house.
- If you absolutely do not get along with your ex, resist the temptation to complain to your teen about your ex. That’s your issue to work out. Don’t make it your child’s.
