#13: You Always Lift Weights on Balance Equipment

Balancing and weights don't mix.Many people are under the misimpression that lifting weights on balance equipment (like BOSU balls, yoga balls, balance boards, etc.) will improve their strength more or make them a more ‘balanced’ person. There isn’t a lot of research to suggest this is true, and recent research suggests that strength-wise you get limited results from lifting on balance equipment. If you insist on using this equipment, don’t make it the focus of your workout–do your strength training first, then when the major muscles get tired, do the balance work with lighter weights to work the stabilizer muscles.
