Symptoms associated with adrenal imbalances might not be as obvious as some of the symptoms associated with sex hormones. Since adrenaline is one of the adrenal hormones, anxiety is probably not surprising, but one of the other common symptoms of adrenal imbalance might be difficulty sleeping.

As we discussed in our previous article on adrenal hormones, too much stress for too long causes cortisol levels to continuously spike, leading to a hyper-vigilant state and the inability of the body to sleep. Some of the other common symptoms associated with adrenal imbalances are:

  • Allergies
  • Anxiety
  • Decreased stamina
  • Dizzy spells
  • Lightheadedness
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Frequent colds/flu
  • Headaches
  • Irritability
  • Morning fatigue
  • Sugar cravings

Because the adrenals are intimately involved with immune system function, brain function, and other vital body functions, imbalances can affect many different areas. If you suspect that you may have a hormone imbalance, you might wonder which hormones you need to have tested in order to know how to address your imbalance.
