Progesterone – Women
Progesterone prepares the uterus for egg implantation and is vital to a successful pregnancy. Ovaries, and placenta during pregnancy, are the primary creators of progesterone, but progesterone is also produced by fat tissues and adrenal glands. Progesterone also serves a critical role in creating other hormone types. Steroid-producing tissues use progesterone as a base, while specialized cells perform the conversion into another steroid hormone.
