Myth #6: Our Ancestors Ate a Low Carb, High Protein Diet
Some adherants to the Paleo Diet take it as an excuse to load up on meat and eschew any form of carbohydrate. However, even the father of the Paleo Diet movement, Dr. Loren Cordain, has shown in research that hunter-gatherer tribes typically eat upwards of 40% carbohydrate in their diets. This isn’t much less than the 45 – 55% of total calories that carbohydrates make up in the typical American diet.
